About Subscriptions

What is a Subscription?

Subscriptions to blogs are handled via RSS--an acronym for Really Simple Syndication and Rich Site Summary. You can use RSS readers
and news aggregators to freely and easily collect and monitor web content from a number of sources in one centralized location.

How Do I Subscribe?

In order to subscribe to a blog (RSS feed) you will need two things, an RSS reader (an application that collects and displays news headlines
and summaries from sources that you have designated) an (web address) of the RSS feed that you wish to subscribe.

  1. Download and install a RSS Reader/News Aggregator.

  2. Locate the URL of the RSS feed that you wish to subscribe.

  3. Insert the URL of the news feed into the RSS Reader (there is usually an "add feed" button)

  4. The information in the feed will be updated when the feed contains new content.

What RSS Reader Should I Use?

There are a number of RSS Readers available directly through web browsers (e.g. Firefox, Safari), through web sites (e.g. FeedBurner,
FeedReader, RSSReader, etc.), or as standalone applications (e.g. BlogExpress, Syndirella, Pheeder, NetNewsWire, etc.).
